Photos from prowling the paddock, and the Sopwith cup for 1950s tin tops.
Paddock at goodwood really does take some beating. The fact that all of saturdays cars were still there was an added bonus. I mean, who doesnt love a Low Drag E type.
Oh, an one of my all time favourite cars, the Muira (first time seeing one) was out the back on the track. Porsches on track never stood a chance of holding my attention against that.
Paddock:
The Names Bond:
Duck Herding: yep, thats a thing. Only at Goodwood.
Sopwith Cup:
The tiny Austin A40, up against the huge Jags made for one hell of a race. Possibly one of the most exciting races of the day.
Did someone say Body Roll

'60 - my favorite grill, and the one I have for mine. Although, what are it and the Nash Metro doing here?

Looking at the shape of taillights on the Aston, I had the most amazingly heretical idea. One could, if sufficiently perverse, make a Trabant into a fake Aston Martin.

So to display my ignorance, what is the Ford? I know its american, but not sure what it was.
And the Nash Metropolitan were both allowed in, I think Goodwood will basically let anyone come any play whos a member of the club, and will umm fudge the eligibility to let interesting stuff race.
the Nash sounded incredible, and finished 6th or 7th which was really pretty impressive

Oh there so must be a Trabant DB5 somewhere. If not, that must happen. I was walking out to turn one when I saw it, and just started walking towards it. Couldnt help myself ha.

The Ford is a '60 Falcon two-door - indistinguishable from the Oz two-door of that year (and only that year) for the most part other than driving side, but I think this one is a burger. Given the only engine option the first year was a 144ci six, it's not a solid racer out of the box, but very many Mustang go-faster bits are a straight drop in. Judging from the lower profile than stock wheels, I suspect this has happened to greater or lesser extent. Specifically, a V8 Mustang set of springs and steering are bolt-on, as are a large number of engine options, rear springs, etc. etc. Might be a 289 small-block or similar.

Goodwood is very strict on modifications so I would imagine its reasonably close to stock, but im sure there have been some creative modifications done for 'safety' purposes.
Awesome explanation though :) thanks

The level of hoonage yesterday was off the scale. I did not expect people to be driving the snot out of the cars the way they were.
The Earl Howe Trophy race was spectacular. To see early Bugattis, Maseratis and Benzos being thrashed about like that was crazy. The incident during the event was a heart stopper!

The best ones to run at Goodwood would be a '62 on 170 Pursuit-equipped one or a '63 1/2 V8 one or Comet Caliente (Mercury version).

I think the guys in the Earl Howe win the BiggestBalls trophy hands down. The way the drivers were leaning into the corners was superb. Ive got more than a few pictures to go through to get to them. Just loved how many bites they had to take to get the front end to turn into the corner, 4 or 5 goes to get it to dig and turn. Such fun.
Currently working through my pictures in timetable order. Just finished my Group C photos, I would hope to get to Earl Howe tonight depending on if I get distracted.

Yeah, no doubt. Totally lack of self-preservation skills! The big Mercedes sounded incredible.
I'd never seen the snot driven out of an early Bugatti before. Fascinating to watch.

The baby-blue Miura is great! Here's one that I've seen recently that would contrast nicely with it:
Again, thanks for sharing!

wow.
That is stunning. I do love an orange car. And i do love a lamborghini muira. So that is pretty much perfection.

The guy that brought it to the show restored almost everything himself over a period of years. I think the only thing he didn't do was the interior leather and stuff. Amazing skill.
